My trip to the dentist...

I went to the dentist this afternoon... I AM TERRIFIED OF GOING TO THE DENTIST!... I've always been this way, as long as I can remember... Probably because I'm prone to getting cavities. Usually every year, I have at least one...

Well I hadn't been to the dentist in almost 4 YEARS!!! {I'm a little embarrassed by that!} After I got married and got on my husband's insurance, my dentist I had been seeing didn't accept our new insurance and I just never made it a point in finding a new one... BLAH, BLAH, BLAH...

I knew I was WAAAYYYY over due for a check-up & a major tartar scraping! So I asked around to all my friends trying to find recommendations and finally settled on Dr. Gunnels, who was recommended by my dental hygienist friend, Sarah and who also goes to church with my brother & sister-in-law... (My friend Sarah is a hygienist at a different office close by but I just couldn't bring myself to let her scrape my tartar!... I'm a little weird because I go about picking my dentist kinda like choosing a gynecologist. I say to myself, "Would I be comfortable showing that doctor & his nurse my va-jay-jay?"... And usually if it's a friend or someone I know, the answer is usually NO!... My husband kept trying to get me to see his friend he went to college with & played soccer with that just opened a dental practice in our neighborhood, but I shared with him my "vagina analogy" and he understood my uncomfort with that & finally left me alone about it! I just see it as they are both very sacred bonds that leave you feeling very exposed and sometimes a little violated!... I'm very picky about who I open wide for! {LOL ;) Pun intended!}... So that's how I went about my search and landed with Dr. Gunnels...

Well I'm happy to report, I couldn't have been more pleased with my decision! In my research, I saw a couple pictures of his office online, but was really impressed when I got there! The receptionist was delightful & had a soothing waterfall thing behind her desk. Then while I was sitting in their very nicely-decorated waiting room, I look over and they had a HUGE coffee bar/station with my favorite coffee machine & k-cups!...

And they also had aromatherapy-scented blankets & warm neck wraps!! {FANCY} I didn't partake in either because I couldn't even finish filling out my paperwork because they already called me back! {I LOVE a dr's office with no long waits!}

And when I got back to the room, the patient chairs had their own personal flat screen TVs to watch while getting your teeth cleaned and mine was already set on the Real Housewives of NY marathon- one of my FAVORITE SHOWS!! When I saw that, I knew it was a match made in heaven! ;) ... Plus, my hygenist had pretty pink & purple scrapping tools!!! It was an unexpected touch that surprisingly made me feel a little more at ease!

I did however find out I HAVE 6 CAVITIES!!!!!! So it wasn't all peaches & roses at the dentist office sent from above! :( I go back next week to have half of them filled, then go back again another visit to get the rest done! {Sheesh!}... Then once I get my cavities taken care of, I'm sure they'll be ready to talk to me about getting my wisdom teeth out! AND THAT I AM DREADING!!!!!! <=(

I think the time has come...

Just to give you a little background on me... I LOVE SUMMERTIME!! I was born in Maui, Hawaii and am a tropical kinda girl! I love the warm weather, I love the sun on my face, I love wearing sundresses & flip flops, I LOVE the beach, and I LOVE buying too many swimsuits every season- until now!

It's starting to get warmer here in Nashville... The rest of the week is supposed to be sunny & with a high in the 60's so I definitely have the Spring & Summertime on my mind! I just can't wait for it to get hot so I can take sweet baby girl out into the back yard and splash around in her baby pool! Plus, the hubs and I are planning a trip to the beach in July so I'm already starting to shop for vacation clothes! ;)

One thing I am NOT thrilled about for ONCE in my life is swimsuit shopping! <=( I have ALWAYS been a bikini kind of girl! I guess you could say I have a little bit of a hoarding problem when it comes to bikinis!... My bikini collection is just as precious to me as my purse collection & I treat them just as good as my purses! LOL :) I usually buy 4 or 5 every season. Here's a few of my favs I probably won't be wearing except in the privacy of my fenced in back yard! ;)...
My absolute favorite place to buy bikinis is Victoria's Secret! I'm obsessed with their swimsuit catalog (among other things)!... But not this year!!... I've barely looked through it! It just breaks my heart because I have come to the realization that the time has come to trade my bikinis in for a "mom-approved" tankini!

Aside from my "new" mommy bod that's making me want to cover up more, my in-laws are building a new lake house on Kentucky lake that should be complete in a couple months. I know the whole family will be spending a lot of time there this summer because we are all pretty excited about it, so I know I'll be a lot more comfortable with more material on instead of less!...

I've been on the hunt for a cute tankini for the last few days now... I've found a few that I liked so now I'm just kinda narrowing it down but these are the ones I'm leaning towards...

This pink & white one is at Old Navy.com. My friend Beth emailed me a 30% off coupon good Thursday-Sunday this week so this is in my shopping bag ready to checkout on Thursday! ;)

And this polka dot one I really like! Its at Delias.com and I love how retro it looks! If I order it, I'd like to get it in green though...

So yeah... the time has come for me in a TANKINI! I may even get one of those skirted bottoms to go with it so it looks like I'm wearing a mini skirt to the pool! Ha ;)

Thank heaven you're home!...

So I am WAY behind on my blogging! I mentioned in my last post that my hubby had been away all week for work... he came home Thursday evening, then left again Friday night & Saturday night for a bachelor party weekend for one of his old college roommates... so that left me to be a "single parent" all week with sweet baby girl! LET ME TELL YA, I AM POOPED!!!! {shew!}

He came home yesterday morning and I happily handed the baby over to spend the afternoon with my best friend Jana! We had the best time together- as we usually do... and when your a SAHM it's always so nice to get away, put a bra & some make-up on, and not have to use my "mom-voice" for a while! ;)

So today is now Monday evening, and even though I got to have a "me" day the day before, I still feel like I'm dragging & I can't get caught up with everything I need to do!... I HATE that feeling!
It also doesn't help my day that my sweet baby girl THREW-UP ALL OVER ME THIS AFTERNOON!!! :( I was sitting on the couch and had her Boppy on my lap and she was sitting on top of it playing with a toy. Then out of no where, she spewed all over the both of us!!! I LITERALLY COULD NOT MOVE!!! If I tried to get up, I would have ruined our couch because it was all in my lap! {Thank goodness I had my legs together when it happened!}

I knew my hubs was almost home so I called to check how far away he was... He was just outside our subdivision so I told him what happened and waited for him to walk in the door to save the day!... The three minutes I was sitting there covered in baby throw-up, trying not to get sick from the sight & smell myself, I was thinking what would I have done if he wasn't here!!
As soon as hubs walked through the door, he grabbed baby girl & set her down so he could help me get cleaned up enough to stand up! I jumped in the shower while he cleaned the baby & gave her a bath... Then he fed her and finished making our dinner so I could do the laundry.

A few minutes later when we were all standing in the kitchen, I looked down & saw ants by the sink & stove!!! SERIOUSLY!?! If this day wasn't already bad enough! Hubs again came to the rescue and took care of the ant problem (I do not deal well with bugs!)... All I could think was "Ahhh... Thank heaven you're home!" :)

*Side note- We took baby girl's tempurature and it was normal. She hasn't thrown up again since so we are just keeping an eye on her.

**New car update- So after getting a new battery installed from Auto Zone, taking it in to the BMW place to look over since all the check engine lights were on after they put it in, and $400 later, our new car is finally on the road! The guy who changed the battery at Auto Zone didn't know what he was doing and blew a fuse!...

Friday Fives: 5 things on my to-do list...

This week's topic on Beth's (http://www.mcclintockb.blogspot.com/) Friday Fives is "Things on your to-do list"... I am a BIG list maker!... Especially To-Do lists! I love to-do lists!! I love making them & more than anything crossing things off of them!!! ;)

I do, however, have a few items on my to-do list that I cannot seem to cross off! Some of these things have literally been on here for MONTHS!... Here is just 5 of the things on my always, ever-growing to do list...

1. Finish crocheting baby blanket- I started crocheting baby girl a blanket when I was pregnant. I spend a lot of time at it when I was on bed rest... (Here I am when I first started)
Well, like 10 months & 3 gigantic balls of yard later, I'm still not done with it!!! I've never really crocheted a blanket before, but got a kit at the hobby store and watched a "how to" video on YouTube. ;) I wasn't working from a pattern or anything, I just basically went at it... Well my dimensions were a little off when I was doing the length of it so its turned into more of a queen size afghan instead of a baby blanket because now I have to make it as wide and it is long! LOL
If I just take the time to do it, I could be done in a week... but its just that there is SO LITTLE free time in baby land that it has fallen off my priority list...

2. Steam clean my carpets- I got a steam carpet cleaner this past Christmas and I haven't even taken it out of the box yet!!! (I'm partially waiting for Hubs to put it together)... I get so disgusted looking at my carpets everyday too, and since baby girl is starting to scoot around a little more this one will for sure be getting crossed off before too long! PROMISE!!

3. Send thank you notes- I embarrassingly enough still have some thank-you notes to send from baby gifts I received a couple months ago!

4. Clean out dresser & night stand drawers- I have a couple drawers that need serious organizing! I am not a fan of "junk drawers"- where its just one huge messy pile... I like things organized, so it gives me anxiety every time I open these drawers upstairs in our bedroom. One is a drawer I used to keep all my jewelry & headbands in. I got a beautiful jewelry box last year as a graduation gift and have since moved the jewelry I wear in there & what's left over is junk that really needs to be thrown away- or given away because a lot of it just isn't my style anymore!

5. Clean out bathroom cabinets- My bathroom is OVERFLOWING with make-up I haven't used in years, almost empty bottles of lotion I seem to be saving for a "special occasion", and tubes & tubes of lipstick & lip gloss that didn't work out or I have simply forgotten & moved on to something new!... The last two times my mom has come to visit I sent her home with TONS of beauty products- some even brand new!! I just need to take a few hours and organize, give away & throw away!... AND STOP BUYING MORE! ;)

Oscar Dresses...

So I know I'm behind on my fashion wrap up for Oscar night, but my hubby has been out of town all week for work so I've been on single parent mode with sweet baby girl and it has been exhausting!...

Anyhoo, here are my thoughts on what everyone was wearing...

Miley Cyrus- This was one of my favorite dresses of the night, but her hair-do makes her look a little old & I think she should have styled it with funkier bangles of a big cuff to give it more of a youthful look... maybe a ton of black & gold diamond-encrusted bracelets (kinda like Amanda Seyfried was wearing) to keep it fresh instead of stuffy...

Cameron Diaz- Ok I am a big Cameron Diaz fan & I usually love her style... I'm not crazy about this look on her though. I get she's trying to be more grown-up for the Oscars, but I love the young, fresh, & a little bit eclectic Cameron over this old lady looking Cameron... Maybe because this was too safe?...

Anna Kendrick- Not a fan on this dress on her... it looks like something someone MUCH older would wear... Maybe she should have worn Cameron Diaz's dress! ;)

Sandra Bullock- I think she looked stunning! I loved her easy hair & make-up, bright red lips, & the beautiful beading on this dress!
Zoe Saldana- From the waist up she looks beautiful! but the bottom makes it look a little sloppy I think... maybe if the ruffles were all the light purple color it would have looked better...
Amanda Seyfried- This was a really pretty dress... but not on her! :( This color does NOTHING for her & completely washes her out!
Gabourey Sidibe- I think she looked beautiful! This color is fabulous on her & her confidence was so refreshing!

Meryl Streep- She looked lovely in white! And I love the deep-V neckline & long sleeves! I wasn't too crazy about her hair though!...
Queen Latifah- This is probably the best I have ever seen her look! This color is amazing on her & I love the one shoulder look...
WORST DRESSED...
Charlize Theron- Oh my rose boob pasties!!!. What was she thinking? She is such much more stylish than this!... This is AWEFUL!!
BEST DRESSED...
Jennifer Lopez- This is THE PERFECT Oscar look! The dress is soft, glamorous, and architectural all in one! And her hair, make-up, & accessories are the perfect compliment to this dress! J-Lo always knows how to make it work! :)

Wordless Wednesday...
